As an Emergency Physician, I see and treat people with abdominal pain on every shift. It is a top ten cause of Emergency Room visits. Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease, or GERD, will affect up to 60%— that’s right 60%— of the adult population in the United States at some point in their lifetime. Unfortunately, this disease has become so common that we have accepted it as a status quo in our society. But, I will tell you that this disease is no laughing matter. While it can cause discomfort severe enough to ruin your day, it can also lead to such severe crushing chest pain that is will mimic a heart attack. If left untreated over time, it has the potential to result in esophageal cancer, which is an extremely painful and debilitating way to die.
With that being said, the first line treatment for this horrible disease is lifestyle modification, including dietary changes such as the removal of acidic foods. I don’t know about you, but if someone told me to stop drinking coffee, I would probably say, “You’re crazy!” Coffee is not only an extremely important part of my career as a young physician who must maintain focus for long hours, but I also enjoy the culture of a delicious cup of hot coffee in the morning as a structured way to start my day. Tylers Coffee offers me the perfect balance between the coffee flavor I love, and the decreased risk of GERD that burdens all other coffees. As the only acid free coffee on the market, this remarkable accomplishment allows people like me to enjoy these aspects of my lifestyle without having to worry about an increased cancer risk.
There are very few instances in food science when an invention comes along that not only improves the original product, but additionally reduces the side effects and risks associated with it. Given that our medical system spends hundreds of millions of dollars per year helping out those with abdominal pain, this product could literally save out country boat loads of money. Not to mention that Tylers Coffee has the potential to improve the lives of millions while still allowing them to partake in one of life’s necessities. For these reasons, I both drink Tylers Coffee and endorse this product for use by all coffee drinkers.
